It would deplete so much of my funds. I called the rep from the company who came out 2 weeks ago and requested his quote. It was less than half of the second, the warranty is 20 years like the other company. I decided to go with the first company. That meant I had to call the second company to let him down gently. I'm getting pretty good at this . . .</p><p>Nov. 1, Olshan will come out to adjust the piers.<br />Dec. 1, City Fence will replace my fence.<br />Jan. 1, Fix the walls and paint.<br /> Replace the toilets.<br />Feb. 1, Replace the floors.</p><p>My house is still clean and neat!</p><p>My visit with Dr. Sioco this morning went well. I weighed 2 pounds more than my last visit, my blood pressure was pretty good. I discussed my meds and supplements with him. He seems to be impressed with the changes I'm making. He told me my heart was strong, and it is just like it was in 2016! That's good news!</p><p>I finally got a handle on <i>The Billet</i> today and completed most of it. The stories were so jumbled and confusing. After I sent an email to Nick complaining about it, I decided to knuckle down and plow through the files one at a time until I had something to publish. Now I have to wait for Nick to bless it so I can publish it and bill for it.</p><p>The <i>SAPLings</i> is ready too. I updated the FOSAPL website with the info from the current newsletter. Once I get a draft to approve to print, I can count that one done and bill for it.</p><p>The next thing I have to do is move the PDFs of the <i>SAPLings</i> from my old website to their weebly website.</p>awwhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10316138227033423297noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2521839624835364616.post-59564936131255799392021-10-21T19:22:00.000-07:002021-10-21T19:22:29.588-07:00Brain DumpI've been doing a journal in Word since I decided to start the Jim Rohn One-Year to Success program. Journaling has helped me through good times and not so good times. As I was going through my office, bedroom, bookcase, etc., I found journals that were almost 39 years old! They reminded me of things that happened, why some things happened, and what I thought about those things. <div><br /></div><div>If you don't keep a journal, you should. There's nothing like your history to help generations that follow you to know who you really are. I so wish my parents kept journals. There are so many questions I'd like to ask them. My mom died unexpectedly when she was 54. So many times over the years I wish I could ask her questions about her, her family, and to get advice. My dad was always busy, then he moved 125 miles away. I gave him (and my brother-in-law) small tape recorders so they could record their stories. But neither ever did. When my dad was in the hospital, I took a clip board with questions about his childhood friends. </div><div><br /></div><div>Anyway, after working in Word a while, I realized I had to be at a certain computer to add to my journal. I started 3 blogs over the years, and I chose this one to continue my personal development journal.</div><div><br /></div><div>I was going to build a casita attached to my daughter's new house near New Braunfels. After I did a cash-out refi to pay for the build, I decided not to do the build after all. Instead, I decided to do the things to this house that I really have been wanting to do since I moved in.</div><div><br /></div><div>Several years ago, I had Olshan lift the back of my house to make it level again. I've been noticing many, many cracks all over the house, so I called them to fix it. The guy came out and blamed it on a leak under my foundation. The plumber he recommended came out and pressure tested and said there was no leak. So, I called Olshan again to have them reconsider lifting the house again. I got a text from the guy saying they wouldn't. That made me mad, so I called the general manager, Rich Bond. Rich came out a couple weeks ago and said they'd adjust 11 of the piers. I finally had to call a week later to make the appointment for them to come do the adjustments. </div><div><br /></div><div>I started the updates to this house by adding a flowerbed along the front of the house. then hiring a guy to powerwash my deck and sidewalks. He stripped the paint off the deck, which gouged the wood in a few places. Then I hired a carpenter to reconfigure my deck to remove the 8x8 raised square that accommodated a hot tub before I moved in. He was the guy who replaced my neighbor's fence. If I had actually looked at his quality of work, I would not have chosen him. It took him a while to get started. H e started on Monday, didn't feel well on Tuesday, was off Wednesday and Thursday, and on Friday, he called to say he tested positive for COVID! Because he had a light case, he told me he'd be back the following Tuesday. I told him he wouldn't be back until the next week. I quarantined from my family for 2 weeks, missing my youngest grandson's 3rd birthday party, and there was no way I was going to have him at my house before a decent quarantine period. Not only that, he did not do a good job on the deck. </div><div><br /></div><div>David, finish the deck. He sanded down the floor that the other guy left uneven, he sanded the railings and deck, painted the whole thing, floor and railings. We picked out plastic lattice to put along the skirt of the deck and he painted all that to match the railings. Of course, the white siding of the sunroom didn't look good anymore with the brown/tan of the deck, so that had to be painted. The deck is now complete and it's awesome!</div><div><br /></div><div>David also replaced the fascia along the sidewalk to the front door. I had gutters put on about a year ago, and the first time it rained, the ONLY place that allowed rain to pour down on unsuspecting walkers was there. I called the gutter guy and he sent the installer. The installer showed me that the fascia was rotted. DANG! When I had the trim of the house painted 3 or 4 years ago, no one told me that board was rotten. They just painted it. Now it looks really good. I can't wait for it to rain.</div><div><br /></div><div>While he was working on the front porch, I asked David to remove the railing because it was pretty rotten, thinking we'd replace it. After he removed the railing, I realized how nice the front porch looks without it. I'll live with it without the railing for a while. But I think I'll like it better without.</div><div><br /></div><div>My fence has been in bad shape for most of the time I've been here (almost 7 years). It's time to replace it. As I mentioned before, one of my neighbors replaced his fence. My other neighbor has been patiently waiting for me to do mine and our common fence. I got 3 bids, and I actually went with the highest of the three because they mentioned the slope of my yard and asked how I wanted that to be handled and he offered to remove the 3 buried supports from the part of the deck that was removed at no cost. Once the fence has been replaced, I'll have some landscaping bricks posted along the fenceline with some landscaping.in the back yard.</div><div><br /></div><div>Last week a window company came by to measure to give me a estimate to replace my windows. I haven't heard from them since. Today, Eric from Renewal by Anderson came by and spent almost 3 hours with me measuring and chatting, and he gave me an estimate before he left. It is very pricey, but after seeing what their windows are like, I decided to go with them. I'm worth it after all. It'll be 12-16 weeks before they can start. </div><div><br /></div><div>While the outside is being worked on, David and I will paint the entire house inside. I've picked out a white leaning to warm pink call Seaside Villa. Then we will replace the carpet, tile, and linoleum in the house with laminate. We looked at luxury vinyl plank yesterday at Floor and Decor. I found something I really liked. Kaycie and Jeff went to pick out the decor for their house and they chose laminate. I did some research and laminate is easier on our feet than LVP. I mentioned replacing my floors to Eric today, and he said they have LVP, but it's hard on their feet. He said his heels hurt after walking on it for a while. That cinched it for me. I'm going with laminate. Now to find one I like.</div><div><br /></div><div>While Eric was here today, the crew from The Maids came and gave my house a deep clean. It feels so much better. Now to find out how much that will cost!</div><div><br /></div><div>I think that wraps up all I've been up to lately. Burning through that refi money pretty quickly. The fence money has already been pulled. The floor will probably cost $10K, and the widows will cost $27K. </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div>awwhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10316138227033423297noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2521839624835364616.post-51643799420716407832021-10-20T11:25:00.004-07:002021-10-20T11:25:53.176-07:00Lots of stuff<p> </p><div style="border-bottom: 1pt solid rgb(68, 114, 196); border-left: none; border-right: none; border-top: 1pt solid rgb(68, 114, 196); margin-left: 0.6in; margin-right: 0.6in; mso-border-bottom-alt: solid #4472C4 .5pt; mso-border-bottom-themecolor: accent1; mso-border-top-alt: solid #4472C4 .5pt; mso-border-top-themecolor: accent1; mso-element: para-border-div; padding: 10pt 0in;">

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">Geez, I’ve been
so busy since the last time I wrote here. I’ll start with some of the things I
wrote the last time and go from there.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">The funeral
reception was really nice. People didn’t eat much, so there was a lot of food
left. I had little blocks of cheese and meats. One of the meats was a jalapeno
cheese sausage that was really spicy hot! We put it on a tray with Pepper Jack
cheese. Surprisingly, that was the one most people ate from! There were just a
few bits left. I was hoping I’d get to take the leftover cheese and meats home,
but someone took out all the toothpicks and packed the leftovers in a big
ziplock bag. Twice I had it in my hand. I could have said I’d take it home, but
I didn’t. That’s OK!<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">I love
listening to Dana K. White’s podcasts! She has so many great ideas and topics
that are good to know about.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">I got
alana-woods.com to work! It goes to my new weebly.com website. I’m hoping to be
able to incorporate all 3 of my businesses there. My company is Alana Woods
Products and Services now. I plan to head downtown soon to do a formal dba.
Then I can do more with PayPal and the bank.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">Katie and I did
the Pipe Creek event with a lot of success! I learned a few things – QR codes
aren’t for everyone! I had too many signs. We have to remind ladies to enter
the drawing. Katie and I both put a sample on ladies. I learned how to chat while
applying the sample. It’s fun to visit with the shoppers!<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">I Zoom met with
Alyssa on Sept. 28, which changed a lot of things for me. I was gaining and
gaining until then. She and I discussed the supplements I take, and she
mentioned some things that are included in them that aren’t good. After our
call, I checked my supplements and found many of them had those bad
ingredients. She has substitutes for each of them. While I had all the
supplements out of my med bag, I noticed there were only 6 prescriptions in the
bag – there should have been 7! That’s when I realized I wasn’t taking the
Furosemide! No wonder I was gaining. My legs were swollen every night! Once I
started taking the Furosemide again, the weight started dropping off (all
water, of course), and the actual loss began! I am glad I decided to go with
her for 3 months. She checks in with me daily, and we’ll have a 1-hour visit this
coming Monday.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">The Friends of
the Library is still plugging along. I made several changes to the website for
them and I’m in the last stages of approval for the newsletter. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">STC-HPS is
going through a change of leadership for The Billet and website. It’s slipping
deadline wise. I tried to get started early, but by the time they started
getting things to me, other deadlines took over my time. I’m back on it
tomorrow!<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">One of the
reasons I haven’t been here in a while is I’ve had David here doing projects.
The deck has been reconfigured and painted. He put a plastic lattice along the
skirt, but after talking to a guy who gave an estimate to replace the fence, I
realize the holes in the lattice are too large. A skunk will still be able to
get under the deck! I wish I talked to him a week earlier. We could have put
chicken wire behind the lattice. Because it has been completely done, we may
just glue some smaller pieces offset enough to make the holes smaller.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">I have 3
estimates to redo my fence. The guy who butchered my desk estimated $4000,
Colton estimated $5,078, and City Fence estimated $5,378. I think I’ll go with
City. I talked to Bobby next door, and he’ll pitch in $1,000 for our common
fence. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">I also had a
window company come by today to give an estimate for replacing all my windows.
I’d also like to have the front door sidelights replaced. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">Once the fence
has been replaced, I’ll call the landscaper who did the front yard to add
flower beds to the backyard. We’ll put a hard landscape border along the
flowerbed in the front and along the fenceline. It’s the only thing I can
figure out to do to keep the critters out of my yard.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">I took Rex and
Tyson to the library today. Ty DID NOT want to go. He kept saying it wasn’t
gonna happen. I bribed him with a milk shake afterward. Once we got there, he
found a book and actually started reading it in the library. Then a Librarian
pointed out a scavenger hunt in the children’s area. He and Rex really got
involved. There was a group of all the little boys there helping each other
find the items. Tyson really liked that. Then we drove to Sonic and they were
so slow to respond to the button that I decided to go to the one Rex was
talking about. But we couldn’t find it. Kaycie called, and I asked her where it
was. We weren’t even in the right neighborhood! But, eventually, I found it.
Before long, the boys were reading and it got so quiet in the car.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">I stopped by
Bill Miller for BBQ on the way home and had that for dinner. The brisket was
melt-in-your-mouth delicious!<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">The supplements
I ordered from Naturally Nourished arrived today and so did the Re-Lyte. I’m
hoping that will help with leg cramps. I realized I don’t salt my food, and
that is probably why my legs cramp in the morning. I started drinking a cup of
salt water to help that. It did so far.<o:p></o:p></span></p><br /><p></p></div>awwhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10316138227033423297noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2521839624835364616.post-18703128633825096062021-10-20T11:23:00.005-07:002021-10-20T11:23:36.292-07:00Daily grind<p> </p><div style="border-bottom: solid #4472C4 1.0pt; border-left: none; border-right: none; border-top: solid #4472C4 1.0pt; margin-left: .6in; margin-right: .6in; mso-border-bottom-alt: solid #4472C4 .5pt; mso-border-bottom-themecolor: accent1; mso-border-bottom-themecolor: accent1; mso-border-top-alt: solid #4472C4 .5pt; mso-border-top-themecolor: accent1; mso-border-top-themecolor: accent1; mso-element: para-border-div; padding: 10.0pt 0in 10.0pt 0in;">

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">I’m preparing
for next Sunday’s event at the Pipe Creek VFD BBQ. Katherine will work with me
and we’re both excited. I’ve made a price list and 3 QR codes for my shopping
site, VIP group, and my Linkt.ree site with all my links. They are all in clear
acrylic frames. I originally planned to take only 100 sets. But picking them
out was difficult. I decided to take them all but only put a few out. I’m
borrowing Kaycie’s two 6-ft tables. I’ll take 2 card tables and 2 chairs, white
canopy, hand sanitizer.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">I looked at my
DVR in the living room and found The Masked Singer – 3 episodes! I watched
those episodes along with Dr. Blake Mysteries. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">I received the
acrylic frames today and a clear plastic caddy for my dressing table. It’s a bit
large, but it holds all the things I use for makeup that have been in zipper
bags or a large bag on the floor. Putting everything in the caddy made me make
decisions about what to keep and get rid of. I also went through my nail
polishes. I haven’t used nail polish in years, but I had so many bottles. I put
them all in a bag and tossed them in the trash. The only thing I’m keeping that
I may not use is Cindy Crawford’s Meaningful Beauty. I don’t know why because I
don’t see that it makes a difference in my skin.<o:p></o:p></span></p>awwhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10316138227033423297noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2521839624835364616.post-36578379814809126392021-10-20T11:23:00.001-07:002021-10-20T11:23:04.681-07:00Daily grind<p> </p><div style="border-bottom: solid #4472C4 1.0pt; border-left: none; border-right: none; border-top: solid #4472C4 1.0pt; margin-left: .6in; margin-right: .6in; mso-border-bottom-alt: solid #4472C4 .5pt; mso-border-bottom-themecolor: accent1; mso-border-bottom-themecolor: accent1; mso-border-top-alt: solid #4472C4 .5pt; mso-border-top-themecolor: accent1; mso-border-top-themecolor: accent1; mso-element: para-border-div; padding: 10.0pt 0in 10.0pt 0in;">

</div>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">Today is
Daddy’s birthday. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">Rich Bond, the
general manager of Olshan came today to look at the house and take
measurements. He said 11 piers will need to be adjusted and maybe dug down a
bit more. I should see a difference about 60 days after.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">David didn’t
come yesterday. Today I picked him up after Rich left. He is working on making
the deck look perfect. He dug down around the perimeter of the deck so the
lattice skirting will be below the surface to keep critters from getting under
the deck. I sure hope it works. It’s costing me a fortune. All the furniture is
on the deck, and it looks GREAT! There will be some lattice left over, so we’ll
put it on the fence between the 2 kitchen windows again. I like that little bit
of extra privacy. I hope Gabe and Kristine don’t mind.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">The TVs in my
office and bedroom went out, so I got 2 from Walmart. $380, not bad. Picked
them up today and plan to put them together tomorrow.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">When I took
Barbara to PT today, I saw Frank Tapia in the parking lot. I worked with him
for 40-1/2 years. He looks great! He dropped off his wife Rose. I saw her in
the waiting room, so we chatted off and on. A guy, who looks very familiar, has
been coming in just about every time I’ve taken Barbara. He looked like someone
I’ve worked with at SwRI, but I couldn’t remember his name. Today his therapist
called him by his name – Eric. He’s Eric Dornes, the first website client I had
in 1999! I’ll talk to him Monday when he comes in.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">I’ve been dying
to play a “Find the Squirrel” game on my VIP page. So I set it up for tonight.
It was a lot slower going than I expected. Clara was there from the beginning.
She guessed numbers all around the actual numbers that had the squirrels. Judy
Brucks guessed one time and got a squirrel. Daisy tried about 3 times and got a
squirrel. Then Carol tried 2 times and got a squirrel. I felt sorry for Clara.
It took a LOT longer than I expected.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">I met the big
boys at the corner yesterday. I forgot my phone, so I thought I’d ask Echo to
call Kaycie to let her know we were there safe and sound, but their internet
was out. No TV, no phone. I talked the boys into playing Uno with me again, and
Tyson won the game. It took 3 rounds of playing for someone to finally hit 500
points!<o:p></o:p></span></p>awwhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10316138227033423297noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2521839624835364616.post-46197930142944644572021-10-20T11:22:00.001-07:002021-10-20T11:22:15.911-07:00Busy, busy, busy<p> </p><div style="border-bottom: solid #4472C4 1.0pt; border-left: none; border-right: none; border-top: solid #4472C4 1.0pt; margin-left: .6in; margin-right: .6in; mso-border-bottom-alt: solid #4472C4 .5pt; mso-border-bottom-themecolor: accent1; mso-border-bottom-themecolor: accent1; mso-border-top-alt: solid #4472C4 .5pt; mso-border-top-themecolor: accent1; mso-border-top-themecolor: accent1; mso-element: para-border-div; padding: 10.0pt 0in 10.0pt 0in;">

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">Today I weighed
1.5 pounds more than yesterday. I feel it wasn’t what I ate, but the quantity
of what I ate. Lesson learned.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">I called the
866 number of the company that charged me $188 to find out that the product I
ordered from FB (that isn’t doing anything for me) paying only shipping
actually charges the full price for the product 2 weeks later. WHAT A SCAM! I
told them I considered them a scam and hung up. A few minutes later, I noticed
2 emails letting me know they cancelled the 2 products. Apparently, they were
automatically on reorder, although she said I wasn’t getting another shipment.
I’m curious to see if that also issues refunds.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">I had a busy
day. I met David at the Home Depot near his house to get paint and supplies.
The clerk at the self-checkout checked us out. So sweet.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">Talked to
Kaycie for a while about the dogs and family. She’s getting Katherine to watch
the dogs and cat when they go to the beach Oct. 8-10. That means I’ll be
working the Pipe Creek Event alone.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">Took Barbara to
PT. While she was being tortured, I took the towels and stuff to the Humane
Society and the baby things to Pregnancy Care Center. That felt good.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">David took the
bus home today. I dropped him off at Broadway and McArthur. Because of the huge
line of traffic going back home on Wetmore, I went to Nacogdoches and zipped
right back home.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">Ate ½ of the
sausage I got at the Pearl Farmer’s Market and it made me sick! Took three Tums

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">FINALLY got the
Halloween sets in the mail today!!! Some of them are out of stock. But more
will come back, Kaycie said.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">Wednesday will
be Winning Wednesday. I’m playing a Find the Squirrels game on my VIP page. I
hope it goes well. The next one will be a battleship game that I’ve been dying
to play.<o:p></o:p></span></p>awwhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10316138227033423297noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2521839624835364616.post-69312018364651130982021-10-20T11:21:00.003-07:002021-10-20T11:21:25.199-07:00Happy Birthday, Jan!<p> </p><div style="border-bottom: solid #4472C4 1.0pt; border-left: none; border-right: none; border-top: solid #4472C4 1.0pt; margin-left: .6in; margin-right: .6in; mso-border-bottom-alt: solid #4472C4 .5pt; mso-border-bottom-themecolor: accent1; mso-border-bottom-themecolor: accent1; mso-border-top-alt: solid #4472C4 .5pt; mso-border-top-themecolor: accent1; mso-border-top-themecolor: accent1; mso-element: para-border-div; padding: 10.0pt 0in 10.0pt 0in;">
<p class="MsoIntenseQuote" style="margin-bottom: .25in; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: .25in;">Sept. 26, 2021<o:p></o:p></p>
</div>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">Today is Jan’s
birthday! She hosted a swimming party because 2 others of our group had
birthdays this month – Marie Sept. 15, Julie, Sept. 24, and Jan, and Diane
retired the end of August. I bought birthday gifts for the 3 birthday girls and
had them wrapped and ready to go. I texted Jan to ask her what I should get
Diane for a retirement gift. She told me not to bring gifts. I pulled the
birthday cards out of the packages and took only the cards. EVERYONE else
brought gifts. The gifts I got them weren’t cheap, and they were thoughtful.
Jan told everyone what happened. I told them I’d save them for Christmas.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">She ordered
enchiladas, fajitas, and all the trimmings. I passed on the alcohol, I ate my
weight in nuts, but I passed on the tortilla chips. Then the enchiladas arrived
without the fajitas, so I made a little davy dip with the queso, chile, and
guacamole, and put it on some cheese crackers (crackers made with gouda
cheese). She sent Charlie to another Mexican restaurant nearby for the fajitas.
And they were delicious. I ate fajitas, and I was stuffed. Then when they had
cake, I ate more fajitas. That way, I was eating and having a good time instead
of just watching them eat carrot cake (one of my absolute favorites), vanilla
pudding, and ice cream. I drank water all day. They had margaritas and Jello
shots. I kept telling them that I just started losing weight and I didn’t want
to mess it up. And I didn’t feel deprived.<o:p></o:p></span></p>awwhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10316138227033423297noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2521839624835364616.post-70445556776484159502021-10-20T11:20:00.002-07:002021-10-20T11:20:51.528-07:00Great Day with Daisy<p> </p><div style="border-bottom: solid #4472C4 1.0pt; border-left: none; border-right: none; border-top: solid #4472C4 1.0pt; margin-left: .6in; margin-right: .6in; mso-border-bottom-alt: solid #4472C4 .5pt; mso-border-bottom-themecolor: accent1; mso-border-bottom-themecolor: accent1; mso-border-top-alt: solid #4472C4 .5pt; mso-border-top-themecolor: accent1; mso-border-top-themecolor: accent1; mso-element: para-border-div; padding: 10.0pt 0in 10.0pt 0in;">
<p class="MsoIntenseQuote" style="margin-bottom: .25in; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: .25in;">Sept. 25, 2021<o:p></o:p></p>
</div>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">I had the best
day today. I dropped off the bag of shredding this morning, then I headed to
Daisy’s. I had the box of stamps that she took off my hands, a Starbucks card
that she won, her early birthday present, and my 2011 vision book. The only
plans we had included going to the Blingfest and lunch. We decided to go to
Starbucks on the way. I ordered the Americano with heavy cream like Alyssa gets
when she goes there, and Daisy got the Passion Fruit drink. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">Since I’ve been
busy with David and decluttering this week, I thought I might get birthday
gifts for Jan, Julie, and Marie at the Blingfest. They aren’t big on adornment,
so I knew that would be a stretch. When we arrived at Blingfest at the Garden
Center of the Botanical Garden, there was NO parking. We drove around a while
and decided to do something else and go back later. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">The Fiesta
Store was just down Broadway a little toward town, so that was plan B. They
were closed. I told Daisy, “We’re going to the Pearl!” She was so excited. She
felt like we were on an adventure. We arrived at the Pearl, and the rest of San
Antonio, who weren’t at the Botanical Garden was at the Pearl. They have a
Farmer’s Market every Saturday and the weather was gorgeous, so it stands to
reason that both those places would be PACKED! We couldn’t find a parking
space, so Daisy asked an angel to help us, and OMG, there were 2 spaces for us.
We walked around, and in the first shop, I found gifts for the birthday girls
that were different, but appropriate.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">After the
Pearl, we went back toward the Blingfest and stopped at Good Time Charlie’s for
lunch. I had the most amazing plate of broiled tilapia with broccoli and
cauliflower with queso. DELICIOUS!<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">We tried
Blingfest again, and there were several parking spots this time. There were
some really nice vendors there. I bought a wire-wrapped/beaded cross for Karen,
and 2 pairs of earrings for me – cute black & orange witches, and silver
skeleton hands. Daisy bought some red and white pearl beads to go with a Frieda
pendant she has.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">The traffic was
backed up on the flyover from 37 to 410, so we went to my house so I could show
her some of my decluttering mess and the new deck. Finally, I took her home. My
soul is full and very happy after spending the day with Daisy.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">On the way back
to my house, I stopped at Walgreen’s to pick up some makeup, birthday cards,
and my prescriptions. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">The dogs
noticed the gate was open and twice, I had to chase them down the street. I’m
MAD at David and both the dogs. I closed the gate, and they got out again. Now,
I can’t trust them to stay in the yard.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">I’m tired and
cranky.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">Because I can’t
trust the dogs to stay in the yard, I followed them with a flashlight and kept
an eye on them after dark. They were out exploring, and after an appropriate
amount of time, I called them in. Sugar came in, and right inside the door, she
showed signs of pooping on my carpet. I tried to grab her to throw her out, but
she ran away (after dropping some) and did it again behind my sofa. I tried to
grab her to slap her and rub her nose in it, but she got under the table in the
kitchen and snarled at me. I tried to get to her and she ran away. I had to get
that stuff off my carpet, so I grabbed a handful of tissues and picked up. Then
I wanted to find her so I could rub it on her nose or at least smell it and
say, “NO!”. I couldn’t find her. Champ, was so cute. He sat in the hallway
under the chandelier looking into the boys’ room. I found her between the couch
and wall. But I couldn’t get her. Then she got away again, and I looked
everywhere but couldn’t find her. Then after a while, she came out, but she was
different. She knew she was in trouble. I just kept giving her the “look,” and
put them in the kitchen for the rest of the night. No one spoke. They didn’t
ask for anything. Usually they’re whining or barking for my attention. But not
after that. They pretty much cowered the rest of the night. The only other time
they made a mess in my house was the first time they stayed here. I can’t have
them stay again until my fence is fixed. There are too many places they can get
away.<o:p></o:p></span></p>awwhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10316138227033423297noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2521839624835364616.post-73173235428091148532021-10-20T11:19:00.001-07:002021-10-20T11:19:27.091-07:00Shred Day tomorrow!<p> </p><div style="border-bottom: solid #4472C4 1.0pt; border-left: none; border-right: none; border-top: solid #4472C4 1.0pt; margin-left: .6in; margin-right: .6in; mso-border-bottom-alt: solid #4472C4 .5pt; mso-border-bottom-themecolor: accent1; mso-border-bottom-themecolor: accent1; mso-border-top-alt: solid #4472C4 .5pt; mso-border-top-themecolor: accent1; mso-border-top-themecolor: accent1; mso-element: para-border-div; padding: 10.0pt 0in 10.0pt 0in;">

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">I woke up early
this morning, washed and fixed my hair, dressed, and was watching the news when
they announced a shred opportunity at the Doris Griffin Senior Center by Ingram
Mall. Just yesterday, I saw all the old receipt boxes from who knows when to
2019 in the garage. So, I opened the garage door and hauled them all in to sort
through. That's what I'm going to do today -- sort through these boxes so I can
take them tomorrow. So excited about God's timing! While gathering those boxes,
I found a VCR and 2 boxes of VHS tapes and a box of CD cases.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">This is how my
living room looks today while I sort through the boxes. 1 large leaf bag for
recycling, 1 large leaf bag for shredding, a box for trash, and a smaller box
for those things I can't get rid of yet. There will also be a small box for
donations because it's mostly shredding.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">There are a few
boxes left of things I couldn’t get rid of. But, there are several empty boxes
stacked behind the sofa. The leaf bag in the foreground was VERY heavy with
shredding, and the other was full of recycles. My sister visited a few minutes
while I was sorting through the boxes and putting things in the bags. As I saw
some momentos, I showed them to her. We had a good visit.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">What to do with
a mink<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">I found my
mother's mink coat in a tattered suitcase yesterday! It's a dark brown ranch
mink that she bought about 4 months before she died in 1985. My dad gave it to
me shortly after. About that time, all the ruckus was raised about real furs
and I was afraid to wear it.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">I did have it
cleaned and stored at Morris Kaye & Sons over one summer. Then, I put it
away. I read that you don't want to put plastic over a fur, so I put it
somewhere else. I even forgot where that was. Thirty years later, I was
surprised when I saw it yesterday. I tried it on and found out it shrank in the
suitcase! Never store fur in a suitcase!<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">What to do? I
thought about tossing it in the pile for Salvation Army. There's a Too Good to
be Threw store across 281 from me; I thought about taking it there. Then I went
to Morris Kaye & Sons website and found that they restyle furs. I'll take
it there to check out what they can do with it and how much that will cost.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">I'll keep you

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">I have quite a
haul for Salvation Army. In addition to this, there are still bags of things in
other rooms, a sewing machine (70+ years old), and 2 full boxes of paper. I'm
considering donating my exercise equipment, which just takes up room on the sun
porch.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">If you're
interested in decluttering, let me know. I have a list of ladies who specialize
in decluttering and organizing once the junk is gone. Very inspirational and
motivating.Again, I worked in my office until 1:00 this morning. I have made so
much progress! I researched several organizations to find the right fit for my
stuff, and Salvation Army seems to be the one – and they pick up! I filled 3
large leaf bags with paper and shredded paper. I organized the color papers I
had and put them into the new bin I bought. Now I have to figure out where to
put my pencil sharpener – probably on the other bookcase. My office doesn’t
look much better yet because I have empty bins and boxes stacked. That’s why
they say declutter first, THEN organize.<o:p></o:p></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SugLvZfh-Rs/YXBcoCzPWRI/AAAAAAAAAVY/dXnyDRpEZ3w6ZHZtDSkNIKx5upQ-skPNACLcBGAsYHQ/s960/beginning%2Bof%2Bstuff%2Bfor%2BSalvation%2BArmy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="720" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SugLvZfh-Rs/YXBcoCzPWRI/AAAAAAAAAVY/dXnyDRpEZ3w6ZHZtDSkNIKx5upQ-skPNACLcBGAsYHQ/s320/beginning%2Bof%2Bstuff%2Bfor%2BSalvation%2BArmy.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">I’ve become
brutal! Sentimental things aren’t going to weigh me down anymore. I actually
have a set of sheets with pillowcases that my grandmother crocheted a border on
for my mom. I took them originally because I didn’t want to lose them. I still have
a smocked pillow that she made and several doilies. It’s not like I’m purging
of everything from her, so the sheet set will go! I have a pair of boots that
my dad gave my son when he was 2, a pair of superman shoes he had when he was
1, and a pair of black patent Mary Janes that my daughter had along with some
of her pajamas. These things I’ll keep.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">I started
scheduling the pickup with Salvation Army online. It asks for details about the
items, so that took a while. When I got to the date, Oct. 8 was the first
available date. I clicked on it and did everything but confirm before I looked
at my calendar and found something that conflicted. I hit the back button, and

brought the adjusted rails for my great grandmother's (Oma Brehm) bed today, we
rearranged my room. It's something I've wanted to do for 6 years. It was
originally positioned directly in line with the bedroom door centered beneath a
beam; that's bad feng shui and bad juju!! Now it's sideways, away from the
beam. I ended up with an extra bookcase, and I was thinking of selling it or
giving it away. But this is so early in the process of decluttering and
reorganizing that I decided to keep it. David is working on doing the finishing
work on the deck outside. It's going to look so nice.<o:p></o:p></span></p>awwhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10316138227033423297noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2521839624835364616.post-19563761478194483532021-10-20T11:06:00.005-07:002021-10-20T11:06:49.373-07:00More decluttering<p> </p><div style="border-bottom: solid #4472C4 1.0pt; border-left: none; border-right: none; border-top: solid #4472C4 1.0pt; margin-left: .6in; margin-right: .6in; mso-border-bottom-alt: solid #4472C4 .5pt; mso-border-bottom-themecolor: accent1; mso-border-bottom-themecolor: accent1; mso-border-top-alt: solid #4472C4 .5pt; mso-border-top-themecolor: accent1; mso-border-top-themecolor: accent1; mso-element: para-border-div; padding: 10.0pt 0in 10.0pt 0in;">

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">I worked in my
office until 1:00 this morning straightening up the Color Street wall. It looks
great! I also managed to get the speakers to work with my PC! Daisy wants the
rubber stamps I’m giving away.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">The first thing
I did today was call Dr. Harr’s office (several times because they don’t
actually open at 8:00 like the recording says) to cancel my Telemed appointment
for today. My foot was hurting Friday, so I assumed it was my gout acting up
again, but by the end of the day, there was no pain.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">The Get
Organized HQ Virtual conference started at 8:00, and I was there. While I was
watching, I started straightening up the Publishing wall in my office. I recycled
and shredded enough paper and receipts to fill my recycle bin! The good news is
I emptied 4 containers. I also boxed more books from my library. I have at
least one more box of books to pack.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">I learned so
much watching the videos today! <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">Tomorrow I’ll tackle
the publishing desk, register for Grandparents’ Day at the big boys’ school and
have lunch at Alamo Café with Nancy!<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">Wednesday is
the Grandparents’ Day activity, and I’ll take Barbara to PT. Then Thursday
afternoon, Pat Finley and I will take the boxes of books to Brook Hollow
Library! I’ll probably see if I can take the rubber stamps to Daisy Sunday
because I’m getting the boys after school on Friday and I’m babysitting them
Saturday night. Maybe we can meet halfway Saturday.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

is packed with shredded paper. I assume I'll be picking up strips of paper off
the street Thursday after pickup.<o:p></o:p></span></p>awwhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10316138227033423297noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2521839624835364616.post-29857101075136997562021-10-20T11:06:00.001-07:002021-10-20T11:06:07.398-07:00Clutterbug test and the beginning of decluttering<p> </p><div style="border-bottom: solid #4472C4 1.0pt; border-left: none; border-right: none; border-top: solid #4472C4 1.0pt; margin-left: .6in; margin-right: .6in; mso-border-bottom-alt: solid #4472C4 .5pt; mso-border-bottom-themecolor: accent1; mso-border-bottom-themecolor: accent1; mso-border-top-alt: solid #4472C4 .5pt; mso-border-top-themecolor: accent1; mso-border-top-themecolor: accent1; mso-element: para-border-div; padding: 10.0pt 0in 10.0pt 0in;">

course that would change your life.” It only confused me, and it lasted 35
minutes with 25 minutes of sales for their other courses. Very disappointing.<o:p></o:p></span></i></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">As I was
finishing the videos in the mini course, I was concentrating on the Bee’s style
of organizing and several ideas popped into my head! I’m so excited about it.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">I’ve been
stacking my bins with nails on the table to my right at my Color Street desk.
When I need to add or remove something from the bins, it’s a game of shuffle
bin, which has not been ideal, but it seemed the only solution. I now have
pretty photo boxes (similar to shoe boxes) for the sets, and the lids are
removable, so I can put them under the boxes and have the bins open to grab or
add. THEN, if I put them on the shelf behind me, I can just turn around and
grab them. What a genius idea! I’m so excited. I have to reorganize that whole
space. I’m so excited!!!<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">My day was
pretty busy yesterday. Very productive! I feel good about how things are
progressing.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">I found out the
changes I wanted to make in my house would cost $150K! Time to find someone
else, don't you think? I replied that it was too rich for my blood. So,
instead, I'll tackle projects one at a time starting with the most important,
working toward "just right." We (David and I) managed to discuss
finishing the deck and adding party lights, taking my bed (my great
grandmother's) apart so the rails could be shortened. Then we'll rearrange the
bedroom when the rails are back. He fixed my kitchen faucet, which started
turning itself off almost a year ago.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">I also started
reading a fascinating book, Twelve Ordinary Men, which is about the Apostles
and how Jesus picked them. I'm really enjoying this one. I know -- I have about
8 books started. My goal is to finish all 8 before I start another one.<o:p></o:p></span></p>awwhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10316138227033423297noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2521839624835364616.post-56286277011165871962021-10-20T11:04:00.002-07:002021-10-20T11:04:54.713-07:00Saturday of getting some things done<p> </p><div style="border-bottom: solid #4472C4 1.0pt; border-left: none; border-right: none; border-top: solid #4472C4 1.0pt; margin-left: .6in; margin-right: .6in; mso-border-bottom-alt: solid #4472C4 .5pt; mso-border-bottom-themecolor: accent1; mso-border-bottom-themecolor: accent1; mso-border-top-alt: solid #4472C4 .5pt; mso-border-top-themecolor: accent1; mso-border-top-themecolor: accent1; mso-element: para-border-div; padding: 10.0pt 0in 10.0pt 0in;">

</div>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">The day started out as a usual Saturday. My schedule
included getting water from the water store and running to Sprouts with a
virtual lunch with Laura and later a virtual get together with Jan, Diane,
Sonia, Julie, and Marie.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">I called David while I was on the way home from the store
to see if he wanted to come by to get my bed rails to have them shortened. He
said he was available. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Laura and I visited for an hour. It was so good to visit
with her. I think I’ll try to set up something like that with other friends as
we continue to go through this pandemic/self-imposed quarantine. I invited her
to do the Jim Rohn one-year success plan with me, and she accepted. I sent the
first 4 emails to her and told her I’d wait for her. I’m hoping that wasn’t a mistake.
In the meantime, I’ll read and declutter.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">I picked up David about 2:30 and we walked through the
house to show him the deck and what needs to be done out there. He and I took
the bed apart so he could take the rails. Then he started on the kitchen faucet
that has been turning itself off since last year. I didn’t have the correct
core puller, so I looked for a YouTube video showing how to replace the core.
All we found was something that showed how to remove some of the pieces, which
helped David get to the core. That’s when we discovered the faucet was a
Kohler, not a Moen. All the parts I got were for Moen, so we headed to Home
Depot with those parts to see if we could exchange them. Yay! Success! We found
the correct part and while David fixed the faucet, I was able to visit with the
girls. Sonia didn’t make it because she was with her parents. Diane was there
with her grandbaby. So cute! I got David home about 6:45 and ran home to eat
dinner before it was too late. <o:p></o:p></span></p>awwhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10316138227033423297noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2521839624835364616.post-33863468458509233922021-10-20T11:03:00.003-07:002021-10-20T11:03:35.716-07:00Week Three<p> </p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Calibri Light",sans-serif; font-size: 28.0pt; letter-spacing: -.5pt; line-height: 107%; mso-ascii-theme-font: major-latin; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-theme-font: major-bidi; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-theme-font: major-fareast; mso-font-kerning: 14.0pt; mso-hansi-theme-font: major-latin;">Week Three<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span class="MsoIntenseReference"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman",serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Questions for Reflection:<o:p></o:p></span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">Q. If your level
of success is determined by what kind of person you are, then what kind of
person are you?<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">Although I
protest and say I don’t, I like to learn new things. Although I say I’m a lover
not a fighter, I am up for a challenge. I was a single parent while I finished
my college degree. It took years of determination, dedication, and strength.
Those were the 10 toughest years of my life.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">Q. What can you
do to become a better person?<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">Get over
myself. I’m always worrying about what people will think, that I might make a
mistake and make a fool of myself. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">So what? What
if I make a mistake, what if I look foolish? At least I’m moving forward and
learning from my mistakes.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">Q. How can you
attract a higher level of success?<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">Instead of
watching TV or playing games on my phone, I can attract a higher level of
success by filling my head with lessons from great teachers like Jesus Christ,
Jim Rohn, and Zig Ziglar.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">Q. Are you
currently working for wages or for profits? Are you making a living or making
your fortune? What can you do to get going in the right direction?<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">Currently, I’m
retired dabbling in publishing and direct sales. I’m not really doing much with
either. If I did put effort into either, I could make profits.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">Q. Do you tend
to want to change the seasons or yourself? How does this affect your situation?<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">I definitely
wish to change the seasons. “It’s too hot to walk, garden, etc. I’ll do it when
it’s cooler.”<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">Q. Think of the
darkest winter you have experienced. Looking back, what good things did you
learn or what good things came from it?<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif;">My darkest
winter was the 10 years I was in college with the kids and working overtime. I

been more than a week since I added anything to this journal. It completely
fell off my radar. I’ve concentrated so much on my Keto weight-loss plan that I
completely obsessed about it. </span><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; mso-fareast-font-family: Calibri; mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-latin;"><o:p></o:p></span></p>

also been trying to figure out why I’m not losing weight. I follow the Keto
plan as well as I can. I think my biggest issue is constipation. I have to add
more veggies to my meals. I actually exercised yesterday for a few minutes. </span><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; mso-fareast-font-family: Calibri; mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-latin;"><o:p></o:p></span></p>

the most part, I read before going to sleep. Currently I’m reading a book about
the Keto Diet. I saw something last night that made me rethink what I’ve been
eating. Almost every meal included cheese. I’ve also had cheese as a snack.
I’ll try eliminating cheese for the rest of the week.</span><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; mso-fareast-font-family: Calibri; mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-latin;"><o:p></o:p></span></p>

eliminated the butter in my coffee yesterday. I realized I really like the
coffee with a TBSP of butter, superfood creamer, and collagen. I tried a couple
of recipes. The zucchini muffins were a bust. I didn’t have almond flour, so I
tried using coconut flour instead. They don’t substitute 1:1. DANG! Then I
tried the pork rind pizza crust – it was delicious! Yesterday, I made the egg
bread. It was good. I used it to make pimento cheese sandwiches. </span><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; mso-fareast-font-family: Calibri; mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-latin;"><o:p></o:p></span></p>

lost 2.5 pounds, then I gained it all back. This is so frustrating. I’m on the
diet that is supposed to work when other diets don’t. Later this week, when it
cools a little, I’ll start walking every day.</span><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; mso-fareast-font-family: Calibri; mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-latin;"><o:p></o:p></span></p>

has helped more than I imagined. I’m able to read comfortably without holding
my glasses the whole time.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Yesterday I watched a CS training video about events. She
mentioned that there was an event workshop at the annual conference in July and
the videos were online until Aug. 31. I also watched that video. Both had GREAT
info. Then, this evening, I got an email from a friend, Billie Ford, asking for
vendors for the Pipe Creek VFD BBQ Oct. 10! I, of course, said YES! The Holy
Spirit is watching over me! This evening, I ordered 2 black table cloths, 2
rose gold (like Tokyo Lights) table runners, a 10x10 pop-up canopy, a trunk to
keep everything, plastic sleeves, a toilet flush lever, melatonin, a thing
Tyson wants, and more USB Samsung phone chargers. I seem to have lost one since
our trip to Las Vegas.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Visited with Jan, Marie, and Julie in our every other
Saturday evening Zoom call. We’ve done this since last May! It’s been nice
getting to know each of the ladies. Two were not on the call – Sonia and Diane,
who retired yesterday. Julie took a road trip to Sarasota Florida, camping
along the way. Jan and Charlie did a major league baseball tour. Jan developed
something with her Vagus nerve and ended up in the hospital with a black eye,
possible broken nose. She’s all right now. Charlie, on the other hand, has the
flu.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">I told them about our trip to Las Vegas and how I started
out the weekend as Kaycie’s mom and ended up as a helpless old lady in her
eyes. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">I’ve been following the Keto Diet plan, 70-20-10 (sort of)
and I’ve lost 1 pound since Monday. Today I started tracking Fats, Carbs, and
Proteins to see how I’m doing. I have to work on having foods on hand that have
a balance of those nutrients.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">My library bookcases are looking so good. I’m still
reorganizing the books and decorative items that have been added. I moved some
things from the mantle to the shelves, photos that were on the divider between
the kitchen and living room are there as well. I printed some photos of the
boys to frame too because I don’t have as many of Luke as Rex and Ty. I also put
most of Rex’s artwork in plastic sleeves in a 3-ring binder. Unfortunately, I
ran out of sleeves – more have been ordered.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">I received the photo boxes I ordered to keep my inventory
in. The nails fit in them very well. I’m moving the nails from the plastic bins
that they didn’t quite fit in to the photo boxes. I may have to get large
rubber bands to keep them closed and to organize the nail packages for events.
Next order with the rubber bands will be a Kindle to use at events.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">It was time to learn more about the conflict in
Afghanistan, so I Googled the difference between Isis and the Taliban. I feel
more informed and not quite as scared as I was before. There’s still too much
unrest there. I pray for the world.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">I’m also quarantining until the COVID numbers come down to
below 100 a day. We have a way to go.<o:p></o:p></span></p>awwhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10316138227033423297noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2521839624835364616.post-58958672419680380252021-10-20T10:58:00.002-07:002021-10-20T10:58:18.882-07:00Following up after Vegas and Keto<p> </p><div style="border-bottom: solid #4472C4 1.0pt; border-left: none; border-right: none; border-top: solid #4472C4 1.0pt; margin-left: .6in; margin-right: .6in; mso-border-bottom-alt: solid #4472C4 .5pt; mso-border-bottom-themecolor: accent1; mso-border-bottom-themecolor: accent1; mso-border-top-alt: solid #4472C4 .5pt; mso-border-top-themecolor: accent1; mso-border-top-themecolor: accent1; mso-element: para-border-div; padding: 10.0pt 0in 10.0pt 0in;">

</div>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Today I felt MUCH better. I woke up about 6:15 and weighed
212.1!!! I’ve lost a little more than 1 pound in the 3 days I’ve been Keto. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Yesterday, after drinking those 90 oz. of water, I peed my
pants three times. I couldn’t hold it as long as I usually can. This means I
need to strengthen my core.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">I had texted Daisy yesterday asking if she had an app on
her phone that measured her oxygen and if so, had she compared it to her
oximeter. She texted that she did, and it was 2% off. So, my 96% was good!<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Then early this morning I texted her to find out if she
wanted the 4 samples she won on my VIP page to be a mix or all the same. We
texted back and forth. Then she asked for me to pray for her because she was
giving an impromptu presentation to the heads of her organization this morning
at 9:00. I texted a prayer to her and prayed for her several times. Afterward,
she said someone told her she hit it out of the park! I was so happy I almost
cried!<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Kaycie called to let me know she had heard from Trese
Harris whom we met in Vegas. Trese wanted to order nails. It was my turn, so I
called her and took her order. Shortly after that, I received a JotForm that
Sheila Morris wanted samples. I’m trying to establish if Trese told Sheila
about the nails (I’m pretty sure she did. Trese seems to have told several
ladies.) so Trese could get her free set and Sheila would get her free shipping.
Sheila isn’t very communicative. Anyway, the samples are ready to mail in the
morning! I’m also going to send a catalog to Trese! I followed up with her in
an email suggesting I open an affiliates link for her where she could earn free
nails, or she could join and earn 25% of her purchases.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">I also sent a follow up email to Kason (the doctor in the
booth on the other side of us at the Expo in Las Vegas) to see what his wife
thought about the sets he bought for her.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">I joined the Compass Wellness FB group (Alyssa Rogers) earlier
this week. There’s so much info about the Keto plan. Alyssa posted the meal she
had at Alamo Café. It looked so good that I had to have it. I ordered it online
and picked it up Curbside. It was delicious! I should have split it into 3
meals. I’m stuffed from having the second half this evening. I’m too full
actually.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Eating in only an 8-hour span hasn’t been as difficult as I
expected. I drink two Keto coffees after awakening and then eat breakfast at 10
followed by lunch about 1:30 or 2 with dinner about 5:30. I want to be finished
by 6. The first couple of nights and mornings were tough, but I’m adjusting.
Seeing a weight loss helps!<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Yesterday, I received the 2 Keto books I ordered. The info
in one of them has been very helpful! It’s full of recipes, meal plans,
shopping lists, etc. Just what I need to get started.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">The other talks more about the health benefits. Both are good
resources for more info about Keto.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Nancy called me today about FOSAPL stuff, and we ended up
talking about both of us being on the Keto plan. I followed up with an email to
her with the Compass Wellness group FB link to her.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Now to get back to reading!<o:p></o:p></span></p>awwhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10316138227033423297noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2521839624835364616.post-88493701385723901872021-10-20T10:56:00.005-07:002021-10-20T10:56:45.114-07:00Reading to begin the development journey<p> </p><div style="border-bottom: solid #4472C4 1.0pt; border-left: none; border-right: none; border-top: solid #4472C4 1.0pt; margin-left: .6in; margin-right: .6in; mso-border-bottom-alt: solid #4472C4 .5pt; mso-border-bottom-themecolor: accent1; mso-border-bottom-themecolor: accent1; mso-border-top-alt: solid #4472C4 .5pt; mso-border-top-themecolor: accent1; mso-border-top-themecolor: accent1; mso-element: para-border-div; padding: 10.0pt 0in 10.0pt 0in;">
<p class="MsoIntenseQuote" style="margin-bottom: .25in; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: .25in;">August 25<span class="IntenseQuoteChar"><span style="font-style: normal;">, 20</span></span>21<o:p></o:p></p>
</div>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Yesterday I was totally focused on finishing <i>The Five
Major Pieces of the Life Puzzle</i> by Jim Rohn, which I did. I drank about 90
oz of water during the afternoon.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">After I finished the book, I called Jan. She called me
back, and we talked for a long time, catching up. I have to admit that I
couldn’t understand her a lot of the time. I wonder if it was because I wasn’t
wearing my hearing aids.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Today, I woke up at 5:15 and could barely move. I felt
washed out. I fixed my Keto coffee and drank 2 cups. At 10, I ate breakfast and
barely moved until I dragged myself to bed about 10:45 and slept until 12:30.
It wasn’t a restful nap because my feet were cold – even with socks (and I
can’t sleep with cold feet) and my phone rang 5 times in that time. All SPAM
calls – so annoying.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">My oxygen level was 96%, so I think I don’t have COVID. I
think my problem is being Keto strict for 2 full days and having few carbs for
energy. I texted Daisy and she suggested eating an apple. Once I ate one with a
cheese stick, I felt a little better.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">I sure hope I feel better tomorrow.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">I have <i>Think and Grow Rich</i>, so I’ll read that next.
When I read it 15 years ago, I was really looking for the one sentence that
would unlock the secret to getting rich. A few years, I realized it was
“thinking.”<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">I’m looking for a doctor to see about my hands. There’s a
sharp pain below the thumb that I’m afraid may affect my grasping heavy objects
like a full coffee pot. It hurts when I lift Luke as well. I guess I’ll go to
Dr. Harr for a referral.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Not much to say today because I only laid around the first
half of the day. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>awwhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10316138227033423297noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2521839624835364616.post-85181560791704539122021-10-20T10:55:00.003-07:002021-10-20T10:55:35.655-07:00<p> </p><p class="MsoTitle">Week One<span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt;"><o:p></o:p></span></p>

</div>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">While in Las Vegas, I met Shirley who had the booth next to
ours. I didn’t discuss her business with her until the last few minutes of the
Expo we were working. She has a “shop” that does Cryo T-Shock treatments to
help people reshape their bodies. In addition to the treatments, she’s a big
proponent of Keto. After we returned home, she was on my mind a lot. I finally
found her business card and immediately emailed her. She was interested in
Color Street and thought her daughter might be interested in joining the
company. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">By the time I contacted her, she had already had several
text conversations with Kaycie about Color Street and about joining. Kaycie
called to see if I wanted to enroll Shirley. I passed because she had done all
the hard work. I was interested in developing a relationship with Shirley
because of her business. She researched companies closer to home that does what
she does, but Dallas is the closest that does T-Shock. Because I trust Shirley,
I made the decision I’d go to Las Vegas for treatments.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Shirley called me yesterday and we talked about Cryo
T-Shock, nutrition, Keto, my traveling to Las Vegas, and all sorts of things
for an hour. I feel like I have a bright future ahead. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">I immediately decided to adopt the Keto lifestyle and
ordered some of the products she recommended. I also ordered a couple of books
about Keto, so I’d know exactly what it is. I even exercised for about 5
minutes. I did the Nordic-Trak – legs first, then arms. It was a chance to get
my heart rate up and move. I figured if I do them separately for a while, I’d
build up enough stamina to do both soon.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">I started reading <i>The Five Major Pieces to the Life
Puzzle</i>, and it’s very enlightening so far. All my life, I had adopted the
philosophy that if it’s difficult, I wouldn’t attempt it. Very few times in my
life have I worked for anything. I worked hard to put food on the table as a
single parent, I worked hard to complete college with honors, I worked hard to
earn Distinguished Toastmaster, and I worked hard to develop the Internet
marketing department. Other than that, I have been very laid back and let
things happen as they may.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Even in retirement, I basically just laid back and relaxed
the first 3 years. Year 1, I took a road trip to Florida. Year 2, I went to
Coushatta with Jannalyn & Julian, a trip to Paris, and another road trip to
Florida when my son got married. Year 3, I had to cancel 2 cruises that were
planned because of the pandemic.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">I’m beginning year 4, and I want it to be different. I want
to do something besides watch TV and my grandsons. I want to be active, walk in
the park, bowl, visit with friends, develop friendships like I used to have. I
want to do things with my grandsons, not just watch them. Then, when I travel,
I won’t complain so much about stairs and having to walk.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">The future is full of possibilities. Dare I dream about
what my new retired life can be?<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">To have a friend, you have to be a friend, right? I set my
alarm for 7:00 every night to remind me to take time to call a friend. Today I
called Cindy and left a message. Her health hasn’t been good for several years,
and she’s on dialysis now. I get nervous when they don’t answer the phone. Then
I called Pat from church. I talked to her for a few minutes and found out her
legs gave out while in the bathroom. She crawled to the phone and called her
daughter who brought some cranberry juice.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>That helped her. I called Laura and left a message. She called me back,
and we talked for 1-1/2 hours! We’ve been friends since 2005, and I’ve pulled
away several times. She calls me to keep in touch.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Tomorrow I’ll call Daisy and Jan.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">In addition to this course, I plan to follow the Keto
eating plan and become a certified organizational expert.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>awwhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10316138227033423297noreply@blogger.com0
